Even when we are travelling, most of us are still glued to our phones! Mostly to take the perfect picture, getting in touch with friends and family and still the odd scroll through TikTok! These are our best app’s for travellers that will give you another amazing reason to be on them!
These app’s will make your travelling life just that little bit easier! Trust me! From the best apps for getting from A to B, to the top-rated ones for finding places to stay and general handy ones we use religiously now!
These are ALL app’s that we have used ourselves many times, so we know how good and easy they are to use! Some of these apps include in-app purchases to get the full experience, but for the majority, the free version is all you need!
Lets start with Apps to help you find a place to stay!
1: Hostel World
Hostel World pretty much does everything you would expect from a hostel booking app. Finding you the best hostels in your area, within your budget and with ease! You can search for your location via a map which is very handy to view where the hostels are and what’s in your price range.
It’s got some pretty cool features that not only help you book a fantastic hostel, but connect with other travellers and share your experiences with them! You can also download your hostel bookings straight to your apple wallet (iPhone users) which is VERY handy!

2: Airbnb
We have used Airbnb for pretty much every trip we have ever been on, from travelling in the UK, Europe and Asia! It’s super easy to use and you can find a range of different type of places to stay. Whether that’s a single room in a city to a remote log cabin in the middle of the forest!
Not only does it offer a range of places to stay, you can book trips and experiences too. Rock climbing, massages and everything in-between! Host’s on Airbnb are always really supportive, they’ll help you with everything you need and are always on hand via messages if you need anything!

Other apps we use for hotel/hostel stays are, Booking.com, Worldpackers and Couchsurfing! You can find out more about the best apps for booking rooms in a different blog coming soon!
Booking The Next Flight
1: Skyscanner
Skyscanner is by far my favourite place to book flights. The app is extremely easy to use, it shows you the best deals very quickly and compares prices with lots of airlines! You can choose your destination, or if your unsure where you want to go, simply select ‘Everywhere’. This will bring up the cheapest deals too literally everywhere in the world! What better way to start your travels than a spontaneous trip, right?!
Skyscanner has lots of other features that also make it a great app. From Hotel bookings and car rental, its an all round fab app and I wouldn’t travel without it.

2: KAYAK
Kayak is also up there with one of my favourite app’s to book flights! It’s user friendly, the app works really well and there’s loads of functions you can use to search for your perfect flight. It also compares lots of different airlines so you get the best price possible.
A really good thing to know about KAYAK is that you get mobile only prices too, which are often a bit cheaper than booking on your laptop! You can also book hotels and car hire through the app, making it a one stop place to book your full travel itinery!

Getting From A-B
1: Rome2Rio: Trip Planner
We religiously use this app! It’s super handy and has never let us down to get us from one place to the next. You can use the online version too, but the app is extremely easy to use and definitely worth a download. Simply type in the place you are, your destination, and within a few seconds it will show you bus routes, taxi duration times and train schedules! (ALL with prices too!)
You can then go ahead and click links to buy tickets/find out more info from your selected route. It’s never been so easy to plan a route across foreign countries! It also shows your route on a handy map so you can double check everything’s right before you book!

We sometimes use Citymapper as well. This too shows you all modes of transport from trains to scooter hire. This app has similar features to Rome2Rio and has excellent reviews!

If you are travelling somewhere where they don’t speak your language, then Google Translate is definitely one to download. Its really easy to use, the app is very simple but works extremely well. You can now use it offline too! You can translate phrases from typing them in, taking pictures and even speaking! It’s always handy incase you need to communicate with someone.

Everyone has probably used or heard of Trip Advisor as its become super popular to check out restaurant and hotel reviews from customers! The app is extremely handy to have as you can do just that with ease! Not only can you check reviews, you can also book hotels, car hire and activities all in one place.
We use trip advisor a lot! Mostly before checking into hotels, going to most places to eat and just general places of interest to see what people like you and me have to say!

4: Been
This is a super fun app that we love! You can use this app to track all the countries that you have been to on your travels. Once you’ve logged them you can see the percentage of the world you’ve travelled too and the percentage of each continent. Its visually pleasing with a big bright map showcasing your previous countries. Once you visit another you can add it to the list!
You can share your map on socials, compare with friends and even have it as a widget on your phone home screen. If your backpacking round the world then you need this app!

5: Packing List Checklist
If you are really bad at packing and just panic pack every time you jet off somewhere, this is the app for you! It really easy to use and you can create your own lists to include everything you need, without letting yourself overpack! Once you have made your list you can tick them off as you go, adding notes if needed or putting them in a pending folder in the app.
